How To Protect Your Investment
although virgin hair is much more expensive than store bought hair, it is well worth the investment due to its longevity. It all depends on how you take care of your extensions.
-
DECREASE USE OF HEAT
excessive heat can causeΒ your hair to be dry, brittle andΒ split ends will occur. when adding heat make sure you do not exceed 450 degrees because once it reaches past that temperature it has the ability to burn and or melt.
-
USE A PROTECTANT
Apply a heat protectant to your hair before you do ANY heated styles.
My personal favorite is "Beyond The Zone" heat protectant.
This product can be purchased at any Sally's Beauty Supply store.
-
WRAP YOUR HAIR
In order to keep your hair looking fresh and flawlessΒ you must wrap your hair up at night.
Β
Although you have hair extensions you must treat them as if they are your natural hair.
-
SILK VS COTTON SCARF
A silk scarf is BEST because itΒ seals moisture and natural oils already contained in your scalp and extensions. cotton scarves would be good for if you were to apply too much product to your hair/extensions. cotton absorbs moisture and also can cause friction. when friction occurs your hair can become dry, brittle and in turn break off.
-
WASH DAY
Wash as needed. When your wash day approaches you want to use a shampoo and conditioner that does not contain any sulfates causing the hair to look dry, brittle and dull.
I recommend Aussie Moist line orΒ MoroccanΒ Argan Oil line (blueΒ packaging)
-
FOR DRY HAIR
Any natural oils are great for dry hair and extensionsΒ such as:Β
β
Moroccan Argan Oil
Macadamia Oil Carrot Oil
Olive Oil etc.
Β
they give a great sheen and have amazing aromas.
-
FOR BLEACHED HAIR
forΒ bleached hair deep condition with your favorite conditioner when your hair feels dry and/or brittle.
remember, the less heat you apply to your hair the better.
-
FOR COLORED HAIR
For color treated hair I would also deepΒ condition. However, I would use products catered to color treated hair. The brand I recommend youΒ to use is Tresemme with Argan Oil
